The MC95 is Motorola's flagship rugged mobile computer, launched in 2009. MC95 is a purpose built device designed for enterprise applications including package delivery and transportation & logistics. The design incorporates many innovative features such as a smart battery system, modular keypad accessory interface, and a unique approach to rugged device construction that set it apart in this category.
My Role
Working alongside other members of our team, I began the MC95 effort by participating in field research and developing initial concept designs. Partway through the effort I transitioned to industrial design lead and brought the handheld to completion, including technical design execution, manufacturing support on the ground in Asia, and launch support.
Today, the MC95 is used globally by Fedex, DHL, American Airlines, and numerous other companies, and has won several international design awards including ID Magazine's Annual Design Review best of category for equipment design.
