The Surge bite from Hydrapack valve is a new form factor for hydration backpack bite valves, with improved ergonomics and water flow.
My Role
I developed the design direction for the Surge bite valve bite valve - exploring various configurations, interactions, and ergonomic opportunities. The final design is centered around an innovative 45 degree angled mouthpiece and rotational action to open and close the water flow. The angled design enables users to open and close the bite valve with one hand as well as directs the valve more comfortably towards the user's mouth, reducing strain on their teeth and easing water flow. The Surge valve's new design has been well received and it's currently shipping as standard equipment on hydration backpacks from many manufacturers.
